Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and G3NO SYSTEMS LLC ("we", "us") for your use of the CertMonk app and the website at certmonk.app (together, "CertMonk"). By creating an account or using CertMonk, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use CertMonk.
1. Independent practice content
CertMonk provides unofficial, independent practice content for IT certification exams. CertMonk is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CompTIA, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco, ISC2, or any other exam owner.
All trademarks, including exam and certification names, belong to their respective owners. We use them only to identify the exams our practice content relates to.
Our questions are original practice content written for CertMonk. They are not real exam questions.
2. No guarantee of results
- We do not guarantee that you will pass any exam.
- We do not guarantee that our content matches the content, format or difficulty of any real exam.
- Practice scores in CertMonk are not official scores and do not predict an official result.
- Content is provided as-is and may contain errors or become out of date. If you find a problem, please use the report button on the question so we can review it.
3. Your account
You need an account with a confirmed email address to use CertMonk. You must be at least 13 years old to use CertMonk. Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Accounts are for one person and may not be shared.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, copy, download in bulk, republish or redistribute CertMonk questions, answers, explanations or flashcards;
- share your account or sign-in details with other people;
- attack, overload, probe or interfere with the service or its security, or get around rate limits or other protections;
- reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app to extract answer keys or other content, or to unlock paid content without buying it;
- use CertMonk for anything unlawful, or submit question reports that are abusive or unlawful.
5. Our content
CertMonk and its content, including questions, explanations, flashcards, software and branding, belong to G3NO SYSTEMS LLC or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CertMonk for your own study, subject to these terms. When you send us a question report or feedback, you allow us to use it to improve CertMonk.
6. Purchases and refunds
CertMonk offers a free tier and paid access to individual certifications (a "Cert Pass"). A Cert Pass is a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically. You can buy it in the CertMonk app through Google Play or the Apple App Store, or on our website. Store purchases follow that store's terms and refund policy (for example the Google Play refund policy). Website purchases are processed by our payment provider, which may act as the reseller (merchant of record) and handle tax. We never see your full card details.
What a Cert Pass covers. A Cert Pass unlocks that certification's full practice tests, full flashcard deck and advanced analytics, on the CertMonk account you used to buy it, for the exam version you bought (for example CompTIA Security+ SY0-701). Your access lasts until the exam owner retires that version, plus 90 days so you can finish studying. If the exam owner has not announced a retirement date, your access continues. A+ Core 1 and Core 2 count as one certification.
New exam versions. When an exam owner releases a new version, people who own the previous version can buy the new version at a discounted upgrade price. If you bought the previous version within the 6 months before the new version was released, the upgrade is free. Returning customers who owned an earlier version get the same upgrade price. We show the current price before you buy.
Devices. A Cert Pass can be used on up to 2 of your own devices at a time, and one practice test can be in progress at a time. You can replace a device a limited number of times each month. We may ask you to confirm a new device with a code sent to your account's email address.
Refunds on website purchases. You can ask for a refund within 24 hours of a website purchase by emailing support@certmonk.app from your account's email address. Because a Cert Pass is digital content delivered immediately, you agree at checkout that it starts right away. Where the law gives you a right to cancel (for example the 14-day right in the EU and UK), you acknowledge that you lose that right once delivery begins. This does not affect any rights the law gives you that cannot be waived.
When access ends. Access ends when the version's access period ends (see above), if you delete your account, if the purchase is refunded or charged back (a refund or chargeback removes the access it paid for), or if we suspend or terminate your account under these terms. If you delete your account, your purchase records are deleted too, and purchases cannot be restored to a new account. Deleting your account does not cancel or refund a store purchase.
Discounts. Prices may differ by country. Student discounts (currently US students only) require verification, and are for the verified student's own account. Only one discount applies to a purchase unless we say otherwise.
A purchase is not an official exam voucher and does not include an exam attempt with any exam owner.
7. One person per account; no sharing
Each CertMonk account is for one person, and purchases belong to the account that made them. Purchased access is personal to you: it is not transferable to another account and may not be shared, resold or given away.
You agree not to:
- share your account, or your sign-in details, with anyone else, or let several people use one account;
- sell, rent, transfer or otherwise give other people access to CertMonk content or to a purchase, including by reselling accounts.
If we reasonably believe an account is being shared or used to resell access, we may suspend or terminate it. Access bought on an account suspended or terminated for this reason is not refunded, except where the law or Google Play's policies require a refund.
Content protection and legal action
CertMonk questions, answers and explanations are original works protected by copyright. To protect them, CertMonk may block screenshots and screen recording on question screens, and shows a watermark that identifies your account on every question. Copying or sharing CertMonk content in any form, including screenshots, photos, transcriptions and recordings, is a breach of these terms.
If CertMonk content is copied, published, sold or shared without our permission, we may, in addition to closing the accounts involved, take legal action. That can include copyright takedown notices, claims for damages (including statutory damages where the law allows), court orders to stop the infringement, and recovery of our legal costs and attorney's fees where the law allows. We may use the account watermark, server records and other evidence to identify the source of leaked content.
Readiness scores and statistics
Readiness scores, pass-likelihood bands, game scores and statistics in CertMonk are estimates to help you practise. They are not a guarantee that you will pass, and they are not a score from any certification vendor.
Leaderboards and feedback
If you join a leaderboard, choose a display name that is not offensive, hateful, sexual, or impersonating a person, a brand or CertMonk staff. Names cannot contain links, email addresses or phone numbers. Do not cheat: no shared accounts, automation or other ways of inflating your results. We may hide your entry, reset your name, or remove you from a leaderboard if you break these rules. We aim to review reports within 24 hours. When you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve CertMonk.
8. Ending your use
- You may stop using CertMonk and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, or if we need to in order to protect CertMonk, other users or others.
- We may change or discontinue CertMonk. Where practicable, we will give you reasonable notice before discontinuing the service.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
CertMonk is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that CertMonk will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, G3NO SYSTEMS LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or opportunities, including failing an exam, arising from your use of CertMonk.
Our total liability for any claim relating to CertMonk is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for CertMonk in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.
Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the effective date on this page, and if a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using CertMonk after the change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which G3NO SYSTEMS LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of the place you live requires otherwise.
