Delete your MoatKey Password Manager account

Updated October 2, 2026

This page is for MoatKey Password Manager, the Android app (com.g3nosystems.moatkey) and the MoatKey browser extension for Chrome and Edge, made by G3NO SYSTEMS LLC. You can delete your MoatKey account and its data at any time, from inside the app or by email. One account covers every device, so deleting it once deletes it everywhere.

Before you start

  • Cancel a paid plan first. MoatKey won't delete an account while a Family or Team plan is still running. If you pay through Google Play, cancel in the Play Store (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → MoatKey → Cancel) or in the Android app with Plan & billing → Manage subscription. If you pay in the browser, use Plan & billing → Manage billing. Once the plan is set to end, you can delete your account.
  • Shared Castles you own: remove the other members first, because deleting your account would otherwise delete the Castle for them too. MoatKey tells you if this applies.
  • Want a copy? Export an encrypted backup first: Export & backup in the browser extension, or Export an encrypted backup on the Android app's Master password & recovery screen. After deletion MoatKey can't give anything back.

Delete it in the app

Android app

  1. Open MoatKey and unlock it.
  2. On your Castles screen, tap Settings (top right), then Master password & recovery.
  3. Scroll to Delete my MoatKey account and tap Delete my account….
  4. Type your master password, type DELETE, and tap Delete my account for good.

Chrome or Edge extension

  1. Open MoatKey in a tab (or the side panel) and unlock it.
  2. In the Tools list, choose Unlock & security.
  3. At the bottom, under Delete my MoatKey account, choose Delete my account…, type your master password and DELETE, then confirm with Delete my account for good.

If MoatKey can't delete the account yet, it says why and what to do, for example cancel your plan, remove the other members of a Castle you own, or wait until a Castle's key change has finished. Then choose Check again.

Need help with recovery, plans or anything else first? See the MoatKey Help Center.

Ask us to delete it

If you can't use the app (for example you no longer have your master password), email support@g3nosystems.com from the email address of your MoatKey account, with the subject "Delete my MoatKey account". We will confirm the request with that address and delete the account within 30 days. Never send us your master password or Recovery Key: we never need them and will never ask for them.

What is deleted

  • Your MoatKey account and sign-in, and your encrypted master key and Recovery Kit data.
  • Your encryption keys, your private Castle and everything in it, and any shared Castle nobody else is in.
  • Your memberships of shared Castles other people own, and invitations you sent or received.
  • Your plan and billing records in MoatKey's database.
  • On the device where you delete it: quick unlock, saved sign-in settings and verified safety numbers.

Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. MoatKey keeps no copy of your vault.

What is kept, and for how long

  • Shared Castles other people own: items you saved there stay in that Castle for its other members, without your name attached, for as long as that Castle exists. The Castle gets a new key, so your old copy stops working.
  • Their activity log: entries such as "a member left" stay, without saying who, for as long as that Castle exists.
  • Payment records held by Stripe (browser purchases) or Google Play (Android purchases): kept by them for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually several years. MoatKey can't delete these.
  • Sign-in logs kept by our hosting provider (Supabase), such as the time and IP address of a sign-in: until they expire on the provider's schedule.
  • Database backups: until they are overwritten on their normal schedule.

Other devices where you were signed in lose access to the server within about an hour; sign out or remove MoatKey there to clear what they keep locally. Anything another member already saw or copied is outside MoatKey's control. More detail is in the MoatKey Privacy Policy.
