MoatKey Terms of Service
Effective October 1, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and G3NO SYSTEMS LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company ("G3NO SYSTEMS", "we", "us"). They cover your use of MoatKey: the browser extension for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge and the Android app (together, "the Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to the MoatKey Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Who can use MoatKey
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- If you use MoatKey for a business, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for that business, and "you" also means the business.
2. Your account
- Give us a working email address. We use it for sign-in and account messages.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us quickly at support@g3nosystems.com if you think someone else has used your account.
3. Your master password and recovery — please read
MoatKey is built so that we cannot read your vault. That has a cost:
- We cannot see, reset or recover your master password.
- If you forget it, the only way back into your vault is the Recovery Key in your Emergency Kit.
- If you lose both your master password and your recovery kit, nobody can recover your data, including us.
Keep your recovery kit somewhere safe, away from the devices that hold your vault.
4. Castles (shared vaults)
- A Castle is a shared vault. Anyone you add can see its items, depending on their role. Only add people you trust.
- Owners and managers can add and remove members. Someone who is removed may still have copies of anything they already saw.
- Castle names are not encrypted. Don't put secrets in a Castle name.
- Check safety numbers with the people you share with, to confirm you're sharing with the right person.
5. Plans and prices
- Free — $0: personal vault, built-in authenticator, password generator, import, and 1 shared Castle with up to 3 people.
- Family — $4.99 per month or $49.90 per year: up to 6 people and unlimited shared Castles.
- Team — $5 per user per month or $50 per user per year. Team is sold in the browser extension only.
Prices are in US dollars. On Google Play, Google shows the price in your local currency. If we change a price, we will tell you at least 30 days before the new price applies to your subscription; it starts at your next renewal.
6. Subscriptions, automatic renewal and cancellation
- Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize the charge at each renewal.
- In the browser extension, payments are processed by Stripe. Upgrading or managing billing opens a Stripe page in a new tab. Stripe's terms and privacy policy also apply.
- In the Android app, subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play under Google Play's terms. Manage or cancel them in Google Play (Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions).
- You can cancel at any time. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for: your plan keeps working until then and does not renew after that. In the browser, cancel from MoatKey's Plan & billing page (Manage billing); on Android, cancel in Google Play.
- Team is charged per user (seat). If you change the number of seats, your charge changes with it.
7. Refunds
- Google Play purchases are refunded by Google under Google Play's refund policy. We can't refund a Google Play purchase ourselves.
- Browser (Stripe) purchases: we don't give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it. If you think you were charged by mistake, contact support@g3nosystems.com within 14 days of the charge and we will look into it and fix billing errors.
- Some countries and US states give consumers extra cancellation or refund rights. Those rights still apply. See also our Refund Policy.
8. If your paid plan ends
If your subscription is cancelled, fails to renew, or you downgrade, we do not delete your data. Your account goes back to Free plan limits: you can't add people or Castles beyond those limits until you upgrade again, and shared data you already have stays readable by its current members.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- store or share illegal content, or use MoatKey to break the law;
- share accounts with others where that account's own terms forbid it (you are responsible for following the terms of the services whose logins you store);
- attack, overload, probe or disrupt the Service, except as allowed by our security disclosure policy;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data;
- reverse engineer the Service in order to attack it or its users (good-faith security research under our disclosure policy is welcome);
- resell, rent or sublicense the Service without our written permission;
- create accounts or send invitations in bulk by automated means, or use invitations to spam or harass anyone.
10. Your content
What you store in MoatKey is yours. You give us permission to store, copy and transmit your encrypted content only as needed to run the Service, for example to sync it between your devices and to the people you share with. Because your vault is encrypted on your device, we cannot see it, check it or restore it for you.
11. Our software
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the MoatKey apps and extension while these terms apply. We own the Service, its name and its logos. App stores (Google Play, Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons) may have their own terms.
12. A new service
MoatKey is new. It has had internal security review only; an independent security review has not happened yet. Features may change. Keep your own backup of anything important, such as an encrypted export.
13. Ending your account
- You can stop using MoatKey at any time and delete your account.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.
- If we stop offering the Service, we will give you at least 60 days' notice so you can export your data.
- Sections that by their nature should continue (disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity and governing law) continue after your account ends.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or completely secure, or that data can be recovered if you lose your master password and recovery kit. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places don't allow these disclaimers; there, they apply only as far as the law allows.
15. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost access to accounts, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
16. Indemnity
If you use the Service in a way that breaks these terms or the law, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts in Greenville County, South Carolina, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally. Before starting a formal dispute, please contact support@g3nosystems.com so we can try to fix it.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using MoatKey after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
19. Other terms
If a part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger or sale of the business. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
